for my husband. He used left over wood from his deck,
so that kept the cost down!
made my son, Luke this John Deere blanket.
Four years later, Luke still won't go to sleep without it!
using old barn wood, old barn door hinges,
and horse shoes (for the handles). It goes perfectly
with my son's western themed room!
This is a continuation of my previous post. Here are just a few more pictures I wanted to share with you. Some other gift ideas that I have given or received:
1. I took my kids to a store where they could pick out their own pottery and paint it (the grandma's loved their gifts!)
2. Make a mix in a jar (soup mixes, cookie mixes, etc)
3. Make your own candles
4. Make your own soap, bath salts, and skin scrub
5. Take some pictures, have them developed, and frame them
6. Go to a bead store and custom make jewelry
7. If you are into stamping or scrapbooking...make a pack of cards for different occasions (baby, wedding, get well, birthday, etc.) Who wouldn't want the convenience of having a homemade card on hand to give to a friend?
8. Give coupons for various chores or services (childcare, a meal, laundry service, ironing, mowing, etc.)
You don't have to be super crafty or creative to enjoy giving homemade gifts. Maybe you are saying, "I don't have the time to do anything like that." Technically, you have 12 months to get it done if you plan ahead of time! It really doesn't take much more time than if you were going to go shopping for a gift. Give it a try, and who knows!?! You might discover some new hobbies!
Great ideas! I love how it takes the consumerism out of the Christmas season, and the gifts are practical and personal. Thanks for sharing these great ideas!
