My friend, Angie, and I had a discussion a few weeks ago about how some women with small children don't even bother getting dressed, showering, or fixing themselves up for the day. My feeling on it was that it would drive me crazy, and I wouldn't be able to get anything done without looking and feeling like I was ready to conquer the day. So, I figured I couldn't make that judgement call without first trying it.
So, last Monday was going to be my pajama day. About 11:00 a.m. I was down in the basement sorting laundry when Molly came running down saying, "Mommy, Grandma and Grandpa G.G. are here!" (my husband's grandparents) I most certainly did not completely freeze in terror at the realization that I was in my pajamas. I definitely did not grab some dirty clothes out of the laundry piles, because that would be well, just plain old gross! Then, I did not frantically run to the kids toy room downstairs looking for Molly's Barbie doll case, rummage through it to find the Barbie brush, and make a very hurried attempt at making my hair look like I had spent time on it. Then, of all things, I did NOT walk calmly and collected up the stairs with a pasted smile on my face and say, "Oh, Hi! I'm so glad you stopped by!" I wouldn't have done that because I don't ever fake that I'm glad people just stop over at will and surprise me! So much for trying the pajamas all day thing!
